As Jennifer and I were trying to come up with a name, we wanted to use my father’s name somewhere, but not as his first name. My Dad changed his name to Ray, but we want to use his original name. Here is the meaning of the middle name from Think Baby Names:
It is of Latin origin, and its meaning is "citizen of Rome". Variant of Romanus; the name of several obscure saints and a pope. Rome was the center of the Roman Catholic faith. In the ancient world, Roman citizenship represented an ideal standard of rectitude and courage. Even as the Imperial declined, the ideals of Roman citizenship remained to rebuke those responsible and to inspire those who opposed them.
For his first name, we individually always had this name in our heads. When we heard it, we knew that it was the right name. It’s also the name of one of my best friends… a ‘brother-in-beer’ if you will. He’s someone that Jennifer and I both admire and look up to. If our son grows up to be like him, we would be happy parents. Here is the meaning of his name from Think Baby Names:
It is of Irish and Gaelic origin, and its meaning is "bard, poet". May also possibly mean "young deer". May also come from the French… meaning "divine, perfect".
So, it is with great pleasure that we introduce to everyone the newest member of the Pridelands…
