After not sleeping at all last night…

CHANGES HAVE TO HAPPEN!

Billy Joel gives you a clue…

Got a call from an old friend
We used to be real close
Said he couldn’t go on the American way
Closed the shop, sold the house
Bought a ticket to the West Coast
Now he gives them a stand-up routine in L.A.

Consider this your call, my friends…

‘Bum Rush the Charts’ TOMORROW!

Tomorrow, March 22nd, 2007 we are going to strike fear into the hearts of the music industry and make an independent music artist #1 on iTunes! Go to http://www.financialaidpodcast.com/bumrush and click on the button to purchase “Mine Again” by the band Black Lab.

The reason to use the button? ‘Bum Rush the Charts’ signed up as an affiliate of the iTunes Music Store, and every commission made on the sale of “Mine Again” will be donated to college scholarships, partly because it’s a worthy cause, but also partly because college students are among the most misunderstood and underestimated groups of people by big media. Black Lab has taken it up another notch – 50% of their earnings are going to be donated to the scholarship fund as well.

It’s actually a great song, so TOMORROW (NOT TODAY), go to http://www.financialaidpodcast.com/bumrush and buy this song!

Thanks for your support!

Lotusphere 2007 Presentations database?

I’m sitting (yes, and live blogging I guess) at the “Lotusphere Comes To You” in Detroit (Southfield, Michigan actually) and Jack Welch (Sales and Distribution, Software Sales, Lotus Software Group, IBM) was in his Notes 8 client and there was a Notes database called “Lotusphere 2007 Presentations”. He mentioned that it was available, but all Google searches proved fruitless. Does anyone have any idea where that NSF is located, or is it only an ‘IBM Internal’ database?

Michigan Brewers Guild Winter Beer Festival 2007

Tomorrow cannot come soon enough…

I will be attending the Michigan Brewers Guild 2nd Annual Winter Beer Festival in an area called Old Town in Lansing, Michigan tomorrow, February 24th, with my wife and a recently transplanted Michigander. Around 140 beers will be in attendance along with us. For those of you in Michigan or the surrounding areas, it’s not too late to purchase tickets. Around 2:30pm, I hope to be by the Dark Horse table with some friends from the CraftBeerinMI Yahoo! Group. If you’re interested in joining that group, it’s free…

If you’re near Ireland around Memorial Day this year, don’t miss the ILUG 2007 Conference

24-25 May... Visit Dublin and attend the Irish Lotus User Group Conference 2007

It almost seems like ‘Lotusphere Europe’ is back…. There are going to be some great speakers, great prizes and good times… plus this 2 day conference is FREE! Go to the Irish Lotus Notes User Group 2007 Event Database to get more information and REGISTER NOW… it’s almost filled up!!!

To Paul, Eileen, Kitty, Warren and ‘Wild’ Bill… looks like it’s going to be one heck of a conference! Best wishes for a successful one!

Alas, I will not be there physically (still waiting for the airplane fairies to give me a ticket under my pillow), but I will be there in spirit… and will drink some spirits every night in honor of my comrades across the water! Cheers!

Happy Paczki Day 2007

It is once again time for that time honored tradition… Paczkis! For those of you who have not read this blog over the past three years, I love Fat Tuesday aka Mardi Gras aka Shrove Tuesday aka Paczki Day! Wikipedia has a decent definition of ‘Paczki’. It’s covered here in Detroit by the television stations, radio stations (WRIF 101.1FM is broadcasting from the New Dodge Lounge), and the Detroit News and Detroit Free Press. What’s cool this year is that I was invited to a Paczki Eating Contest in Hamtramck, Michigan, the ‘Paczki Capital of the World’. What’s not cool is that I’m stuck at work, so I can’t go. My nephew is in Hamtramck buying paczkis and having a good time (read ‘having adult beverages with friends’).

According to the Hamtramck Star, there is a whole list of events for today. (Thanks for the paczki picture, HS!) If you are in the area, get out there and enjoy it! It’s around 40 degrees Fahrenheit today, so there’s no reason why you can’t have a good time before Ash Wednesday. Smacznego!
