Allow me to introduce you to…

…Baby BOY (aka ‘TBA’) Bilyk! Here are some ultrasound pictures taken this morning.

We just found out that we’re having a boy! We’ve got a lot of shopping to do for boy clothes now, but it’s worth having a balanced male/female ratio in the Pridelands!

Happy Birthday Bruce Elgort and Mikkel Heisterberg

I love Skype, but am surprised that it’s not already on my calendar (I’m such a bad friend)…

According to his profile, today is Bruce Elgort‘s birthday! Happy Birthday Bruce… and many more!

Make sure you stop by his blog or send him a Tweet and wish him a happy birthday!

UPDATE: What a great day for birthdays! I just found out that it’s Mikkel Heisterberg‘s birthday as well. Go wish Mikkel a happy birthday via his blog or Twitter also!

Congratulations Detroit Red Wings – Stanley Cup Champions!

Hey hey Hockeytown!

Congratulations to the Detroit Red Wings for winning the Stanley Cup in a great series with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Congratulations to Henrik Zetterberg for winning the Conn Smythe award for most valuable player. This gives the Wings their 11th Stanley Cup Championship in franchise history.

(As I was listening to the game on WXYT 97.1FM ‘The Ticket’, I noticed that it didn’t sound like the regular play-by-play guy, Ken Kal. I just found out that Ken Daniels did the play-by-play up until the last few moments because Ken Kal had laryngitis.)

The parade will be on Friday at 11AM. The Detroit TV stations will probably stream it live on their websites. Leave a comment if you would like links.

I can’t seem to blog from Flickr anymore

I’ve tried to blog from Flickr as I’ve done before, but I’m having problems. Flickr said that it’s worked, but I can’t find the blog entry…

Any thoughts?

UPDATE: I went to the ‘All Documents’ view in Blogsphere, and the blog entries are there, but they claim to use the ‘Blog’ form instead of the standard ‘content_BlogEntry’ form. Any thoughts now?

I lost a friend and a mentor today

As you grow up around the Knights of Columbus, you learn who is talking to you, and who is talking DOWN to you. Sir Knight John Pociask never talked down to me, even as a kid. When I became a Knight, he still would find a way to keep me humble. He would listen to me when I would complain about something, then he’d tell me to snap out of it. He was a friend to my family, and knew how to tell a good joke. He worked hard, then enjoyed the rewards of that hard work, including a very fast car that got him in trouble now and then. (I guess he was somewhat like Ricky Bobby… I wanna go FAST!)

I lost this mentor today after a long illness. I will miss him, and I hope that I can honor his memory.

You can go fast now, John… you can go fast…

Memorial Day – A day to give thanks and remember

On this Memorial Day, I want to give thanks to all of those soldiers who defend and protect my family and me. I’ve always admired those that could do this… because I know that I can’t. My heart also goes out to those families that have loved ones that are not with them because they are away defending our nation’s interests, and those that will not see those loved ones again. My father fought in World War II and my father-in-law fought in two tours of Vietnam. I’ve also got former Squires (and now brothers/friends) that are overseas doing what they gotta do.

For all of you, all I can say is THANKS!
